Chengdu Panda Base focuses on giant panda breeding, scientific research, and public education, offering visitors the chance to observe pandas of different ages in a well-designed conservation facility. Dujiangyan Panda Valley, on the other hand, is designed to simulate a more natural environment, where giant pandas receive training in essential survival skills such as foraging, climbing, and avoiding potential dangers in preparation for possible reintroduction into the wild. The atmosphere at Panda Valley is generally quieter and more closely resembles the pandas' natural habitat.

Built over 2,200 years ago during the Qin Dynasty, the Dujiangyan Irrigation System is one of the world’s oldest and most successful water management projects. Its innovative design continues to control floods and irrigate the Chengdu Plain today.
