From the Journey
Day 1
Arrive in Chengdu, settle into your hotel, and begin with a gentle introduction to Sichuan before the route moves deeper into reserve country. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short city walk and an easy first meal together to sync with your guide.
Day 2
Depart Chengdu in the morning and head north toward the rugged mountain country of northern Sichuan. Arrive at the Golden Monkey Nature Reserve area, check into your accommodation, and rest up for an early wildlife encounter the next morning.
Day 3
Visit the Golden Monkey Base in the morning for a close observation of Sichuan golden monkeys, watching their behavior, social groups, and beautiful golden coats at close range. After lunch, head toward Tangjiahe with a cultural stop at Qingxi Ancient Town, a quiet old town with local history and traditional streets. Later, continue to Tangjiahe Nature Reserve and check into your lodge.
Day 4
Spend the whole day exploring Tangjiahe National Nature Reserve with guided walks along forest trails and ecological routes. Look for possible sightings of wild animals such as takins, Tibetan macaques, muntjacs, pheasants, and other forest species. The pace remains flexible so the day can follow the best wildlife-viewing opportunities.
Day 5
Spend a rewarding morning maximizing your wildlife tracking in Tangjiahe's rich habitats. After lunch, leave the northern mountains behind and drive south to the historic, lush city of Ya'an, often called the "Rain City" of Sichuan. Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 6
In the early morning, visit Bifengxia Panda Base — a highly regarded sanctuary for viewing giant pandas in a natural setting, where they roam in naturalistic enclosures set within a serene temperate landscape. In the afternoon, transfer to Labahe Nature Reserve, check into your reserve hotel, and enjoy a light forest hike.
Day 7
Head out in the morning to search for wild Red Pandas feeding in the canopy. Afterward, continue to look for other signature species such as Lady Amherst’s Pheasant, Chinese goral, and Red deer. In the evening, embark on a thrilling night observation safari to spot nocturnal mammals.
Day 8
Spend the morning focusing on searching for and photographing wild Lesser (Red) Pandas in Labahe's pristine bamboo forests. After lunch, pack up and transfer to the legendary alpine landscapes of Jiajinshan ( Jiajin Mountain ), setting up base camp for your deep wilderness expedition.
Day 9-10
Dedicate 2 full days to tracking wildlife in the Jiajinshan area, focusing on Giant Pandas and other forest mammals. Jiajinshan's vegetation is dominated by fir, spruce, and mixed forests, providing an intact habitat that supports wild pandas. While a wild Giant Panda encounter is a rare privilege, this area offers one of the few locations where sightings are possible.
Day 11
Spend your final morning deep inside the wilderness of Jiajinshan for any last-minute wildlife tracking. After lunch, relax on the scenic transfer back to Chengdu, arriving in the late afternoon or evening.
Day 12
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a short transfer to the nearby airport for your departure flight.
