Growing up in the mountainous regions of Chongqing, Shay developed an early connection with nature that later evolved into a lifelong passion for birds and wildlife.

Shay studied ecotourism at Sichuan University, where he began his serious birding journey and built a strong foundation in ecology, conservation, and nature interpretation. As one of China’s early professional English-speaking bird guides with an academic background in ornithology, he has guided birders from around the world, sharing his deep knowledge of species identification, habitats, and local ecosystems.
